We've been tasked with an exciting new summer project! Our clients spent time traveling Scandinavia and fell in love with the clean simplicity of Scandinavian interiors. Aimed to be a mid century modern deck house on Cape Cod, we are designing this project with a certain focus to dream up our clients recent European travels nostalgia.

Completed gutted to the original wood beams framing the house, there are a few key features that shape the home extraordinarily. Below are some before pictures of the project that present the 8ft sliding doors that open to the front patio and terrace that will boast a blooming vegetable garden and hot tub overlooking the Welfleet Harbor. The cornerstone of the house is a two floor brick fireplace that will be painted white. Sky lights scatter the ceilings and give the slanting roof an abundance of natural light which is an important element of Scandinavian interiors.

Our clients requests were to incorporate their favorite colors, indigo and orange. We've sourced some incredible pieces that revolutionize mid century modern. It's an exciting challenge for us to mold this homes interior to fit a style that is experiencing a renaissance with today's home buyers. Companies like West Elm, Blu Dot, Lawson Fenning, and even Anthropologie are on the trend and have produced spring furniture lines that show their modern muscles in this stapled style.

Our clients are a family full of makers and artisans. The project will include a separate loft cottage with a first floor workroom for woodworking and relaxation, and a second floor private suite for guests. An artists shed will sit beside the cottage to provide a space to paint the gorgeous views the home sits upon. Although the home is coastal, this project will be a welcome challenge to incorporate a style we don't regularly get to try our hand designing. Take a look through the gallery below for our favorite mid century pieces and inspiration images! Keep up with us for a full reveal.
