I've always considered the kitchen as one of the best rooms in the house to make the small details count. And the greatest thing about farmhouse style is that it can be blended into a space on either a large or small scale. Looking back at our Arlington project, there's so many aspects of this space that I love. We took a few risks to modernize this kitchen for our clients that allowed us to change up the rules of a classic farmhouse look.
With bold, blue cabinets we opted to add antique pewter traditional cabinet latches as one of our hardware options to balance out the brightness. The finish offers an industrial accent that, as a smaller detail, made the larger details stand out. Whitewashed brick frames the modern glass window above the sink perfectly and acts as an alternative to your classic subway tile backsplash. Stainless steel appliances and a large white farmhouse sink offer a lighter color balance so not to distract from the center island. Dressed with a custom walnut counter top, the center island is a stand out space where our clients could gather for early morning small talk around a cup of coffee, or late nights helping with homework.
