Breaking My Own Rules, Bathroom Sconces!

Nantucket Project, Guest Bath

While designing the bathroom on our main level of living in the new house - I realized I have to do something I never like to which is use an over the mirror sconce! Ugh, the horror! This isn’t to say I haven’t done it before, I have. Sometimes it’s all how the room works.

The reasons I prefer a pair of sconces on either side of the mirror is that it gives a much warmer feel to the room (less commercial feeling). It also gives great light for those putting on makeup, shaving or just fixing your hair. Goodbye to all those bad shadows created by over the mirror sconces! But in this space our vanity is pretty close to the tub and I don’t love the idea or look of a sconce beside the mirror and jammed right up next to the shower curtain. So alas, I am going to use an over the mirror sconce.

There are some pretty great looking sconces out there so while I don’t love the look there are so many great options to choose from. Here are a few of my favorites along with links so if you find yourself in the same situation as me you can click right through and buy!
